Shah Rukh Khan - The Charity King
Probably the Most Charitable Celebrity of India is non-other than our Kingkhan , Shah Rukh Khan.
Shahrukh Khan does his bit for the society but he doesn’t believe in showing it off or saying it out loud. The actor has always come forward for the causes he feels for. He is also a part of governmental campaigns for AIDS and Pulse Polio, Women Empowerment and Women Protection, Child Education and Poor Child Medication, etc.
Following are lists of few of his charity works we came to know about :
* Shahrukh Khan contributed about Rs. 1 crore for the people who were affected by the massive floods in Chennai last year (2015).
* Shahrukh Khan’s company Red Chillies Entertainment has donated Rs 25 crores towards ‘Social and Rural development’ during the year 2014.
* In the year 2012, he had adopted 12 villages during NDTV’s Greenathon project in which they created awareness about the environment.
* He had donated his IPL money, a sum of 2.5 million Indian rupees to PM, Manmohan Singh for Tsunami Relief camp.
* Shahrukh has been closely involved with Make A Wish Foundation NGO. He is close to kids and this NGO primarily woks in fulfilling dreams of underprivileged children. At one time during the earlier stages of his career, he used to charge money for giving interviews to TV channels. This money was then used for his charitable works.
* Once a reporter was injured after interviewing Shahrukh and his case was critical, Shahrukh ensured he gets all his treatments properly and even paid for his bills. The amount went upto Rs. One lakh per day which Shahrukh undertook.
* He is also providing free electricity to seven villages of Orissa.
* He is also silently running sophisticated cancer wards for poor children in Lilavati Hospital in Mumbai also in Kolkata.
* He is also associated with programmees for children education and development. He is one of the active member for NGOs 'Kidzania', etc.
* He was honored with the Unesco Pyramide con Marni award for his charity engagements and social commitment towards providing education for kids. He is amongst the first Indians to win this accolade.
